Worldwide Zoo Consultants believes in world class animal welfare and conservation.  These positions are heavily geared towards improving the lives of the animals in our care, by implementing strict operational standards and best practices.  Your role and involvement will be directly working towards caring for and improving the lives of the animals, you will be working with a large group of fellow animal care specialists and a large animal collection.

Responsibility for day-to-day husbandry operations of assigned animal collection. Primary responsibilities include the care and wellbeing of all animals, maintenance of all habitats and a positive, hardworking approach within the animal care department and with the client. Actively monitor animal behavior and ensure progress toward animal training/keeping objectives while ensuring a clean and secure environment for all animals under your care.

• Undertake daily operations within the animal husbandry team to ensure highest level of safety, courtesy, education, efficiency, and operational readiness at all times
• Maintain positive representation to professional agencies, institutions, and client(s)
• Compliance with health and safety standards in accordance with local municipality rules and regulations
• Provide excellent animal care and ensure habitats meet compliance of facility specific policies and procedures
• Ensure the correct diets and quantities are fed to the animals
• Perform daily animal husbandry tasks, health checks, animal behavior observation and training
• Maintain strict health & safety compliance
• Ensure all animals are visually checked and numbers recorded daily
• Organization and maintenance of BOH areas
• Once locked away ensure exhibits are clear of any rubbish and fencing/locks are checked
• Ensure animals always have fresh water
• Ensure that animals always have access to shelter
• Perform duties to reduce loss/waste, control costs and accurately manage/minimize expenses
• Assist in the maintenance and implementation of new habitats and educational opportunities
• Maintain up-to-date records on animal health, system maintenance, system checks and stock reports
• Monitor and identify animal health concerns
• Communicate to the Manager and Veterinary staff about any animal health concerns to develop and implement a care or treatment plan
• Compliance of all policy and procedure documents
• Assist in emergency situations to minimize damage, loss or injury to team members, animals or company property
• Other duties as assigned
