Worldwide Zoo Consultants (WZC) is thrilled to partner with an exciting new project in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. The project entails the management of a state-of-the-art VVIP private animal facility operation dedicated to the comprehensive care of a diverse range of animal species (both terrestrial and aquatic, domestic and exotic). The collection begins with ungulates, reptiles, insects, birds and fish with plans to expand by introducing primates and other mammals in subsequent phases.


Worldwide Zoo Consultants is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Animal Keeper to join our team. As a Senior Animal Keeper, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being and welfare of our animal residents and assist the curator in the training of less experienced staff.

 

  • Animal Care Excellence:
    • Provide exemplary daily care and husbandry for a diverse range of animal species within our facility.
    • Maintain meticulous records of animal health, behavior, and environmental conditions.
    • Ensure the highest standards of animal welfare and safety are consistently met.
  • Supervision and Mentorship:
    • Lead and mentor a team of animal care professionals, providing guidance, training, and support.
    • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, learning, and career development.
    • Collaborate with fellow senior staff and the General Curator to optimize animal care operations.
  • Diet and Nutrition Management:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive dietary plans tailored to the specific needs of each animal species.
    • Oversee food stock management, ensuring a diverse and high-quality food supply.
    • Monitor portion sizes, dietary changes, and nutritional requirements.
  • Enrichment and Behavioral Observation:
    • Design and implement enrichment programs to promote mental and physical stimulation for the animals.
    • Conduct behavioral observations and assessments to enhance animal well-being.
  • Facility and Exhibit Maintenance:
    • Maintain the cleanliness and safety of animal enclosures, exhibits, and related facilities.
    • Collaborate with the maintenance and construction teams on enclosure improvements and expansions.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in animal care, with expertise in managing a diverse array of animal species.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience in supervising and mentoring animal care staff.
  • In-depth knowledge of animal husbandry, enrichment, dietary planning, and behavioral observation.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Computer literate (MS Office) proficiency with computers and ZIMS software applications.
  • High school or college level course work desirable with a focus in any of the biological sciences.
